Unemployment Benefit Calculator 2026

Monthly benefit amount and total months payable — under the 2025 Employment Law, effective from 01/01/2026

Katitax · Last updated 15/09/2026

Unemployment benefit is a monthly payment from Social Insurance to employees who have contributed to unemployment insurance (UI) and lost their job, provided they meet the minimum contribution period, have registered as unemployed, and have not yet found new work. The calculator below estimates the monthly benefit and the total number of months payable, based on the average UI contribution salary over the 6 months immediately before leaving the job.

Fill in the details — the tool applies the correct regional cap and the current benefit-duration formula.

This is the salary used as the UI contribution base (not necessarily your full gross salary, if your employer registered a different base) — averaged over the 6 months immediately before leaving.

The zone sets the benefit cap = 5 × the regional minimum wage.

Basic eligibility conditions

  1. The labour contract or working contract has ended, except for unlawful unilateral termination or where the person is already receiving a monthly pension or a loss-of-working-capacity allowance.
  2. Contributed to unemployment insurance for 12 months or more within the 24 months before an indefinite-term or definite-term contract ended (36 months for seasonal contracts or contracts for a specific job under 12 months).
  3. Filed the unemployment benefit application at an Employment Service Centre within 3 months of the contract ending — after this deadline, the application is not processed.
  4. Has not found new work after the statutory period from the filing date, except for a few cases excluded by law (military service, study of 12 months or more, serving an administrative-measure decision, and so on).

Once the Employment Service Centre has received a complete application: a benefit decision is issued within 15 working days; the Social Insurance agency pays within 5 working days of that decision — per Decree 374/2025/ND-CP guiding the 2025 Employment Law, unchanged from the previous rule.

The tool calculates from the average UI contribution salary you enter yourself — this is often lower than your actual income if your previous employer registered contributions on a different base than actual pay. The months of contribution must correctly include all periods worked at different employers (UI contribution time is cumulative). For an exact confirmation, contact the Employment Service Centre where contributions were made, or have Katitax look it up for you on the Social Insurance system.
