Maternity benefit is a Social Insurance entitlement paid to female employees during pregnancy, childbirth, or miscarriage, and to male employees when their wife gives birth — provided the minimum compulsory social insurance contribution period has been met. Select the correct case below and the tool will show the matching fields and apply the current formula.

Basic eligibility conditions

  1. Currently participating in compulsory social insurance and falling under one of these cases: a female employee who is pregnant or gives birth; a female surrogate and the intended mother; an employee adopting a child under 6 months old; a female employee fitted with an IUD or undergoing sterilisation; a male employee contributing to social insurance whose wife gives birth.
  2. A female employee giving birth or adopting a child under 6 months old must have contributed social insurance for 6 months or more within the 12 months before the birth or adoption; if she has contributed 12 months or more and had to stop working to rest during pregnancy on medical instruction, only 3 months or more within the 12 months before birth is required.
  3. A male employee has no minimum contribution period to receive the benefit when his wife gives birth, as long as he is participating in compulsory social insurance at the time of the birth.
Scope of this tool: the tool calculates the 5 most common cases above. It does not yet calculate for: a female surrogate/intended mother, adopting a child under 6 months old, contraceptive procedures (IUD, sterilisation), or voluntary social insurance participants (who only receive a fixed one-off maternity allowance, with no paid-leave benefit as under compulsory social insurance). For a second child or later that is also twins or more (combining both rules), there is currently no published official guidance spelling out how to combine them — the tool provisionally adds them directly (7 months + 1 month/child from the second child) and flags this with a separate warning; please confirm with the Social Insurance agency before filing. Similarly, the additional leave for triplets or more requiring surgery in the paternity-leave case also has no clearly published add-on rate in public sources. The actual amount received may differ due to rounding or your specific file — this is an estimate for reference only and does not replace confirmation from the Social Insurance agency.
